WHO IS JOZZELLE?
I like to call myself a creative. I want to inspire and be inspired in the process.
When I was young, I remember our local church was offering extra-curricular lessons for the children. All the kids chose to learn how to swim while I chose to draw and paint with only two other girls. That was the moment I knew I wanted to be creative for the rest of my life; that was also the reason why I can't swim.
In my 10th grade, I gained work experience with a local printing company. They trained me to be a junior graphic designer and that was the first time I fell in love with Adobe Illustrator. They offered me a position but my parents (I know you can all relate) insisted I go to university; so I did.
But before I could even finish my 12th year of schooling, I attended the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) to study one semester of script-writing After this, I was enrolled into photography with Griffith University where I learned the crucial tools within Adobe Photoshop that can help with digital editing. Photography was quite an expensive subject to study (and who knew that you needed to measure light for optimal settings) so I decided to look for something I was more passionate about; Animation. I studied a Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment (Animation) whilst also working two jobs. I was a mailing assistant with Parmalat Australia and a call-centre representative with Yum! Brands; They're the fancy names for Paul's Milk and Pizza Hut. During this period, I also volunteered for extra work experience with several charity organisations and a web development company where I encountered the magics of WordPress. I even went and got my ABN to start working freelance in 2011. Honestly, I'm not even sure myself how I did so many things at once.
After graduation I found work as a graphic designer with a small business, helping with print designs for kids swimwear. It wasn't long until I was procured to teach a Diploma of Digital and Interactive Games and received my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I taught for a few years before obtaining another role as a graphic designer with an architectural firm where I worked with the Director of the company to create signage, newspaper advertising, development websites, and even email marketing. After a few other brief arrangements with small businesses in the advertising and 3D development industries, I decided to work full-time with my freelance work and re-opened my ABN in 2017.
I strive to create innovative works and continue to exercise imagination with careful research and experimentation
